Video: Prince Harry at Children Of Courage Awards

Prince Harry led the nation in paying tribute to some of Britain's most courageous children and teenagers. He presented medals to 10 individuals who have displayed outstanding bravery or kindness, or battled against an illness or disability. The group were honoured at the Woman's Own Children of Courage 2008 awards ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Read entire article at BBC News [1] [1] http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7775600.stm

Chelsy Davy is just another office girl [1] - Daily Mail She is more often spotted emerging from cocktail bars in racy dresses. But Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy adopted a suitably demure look as she started a day of work experience with the Queen's solicitors yesterday... Harry Tribute To Courageous Kids [2] - Sky News Prince Harry will recognise the achievements of some of the bravest children in the country today. He is due to present the Woman's Own Children of Courage Awards at Westminster Abbey. The Prince has championed a number of children's causes and has been praised for his natural warmth with young people, a quality his mother was renowned for... £32m to repair Britain's palaces [3] - The Independent Britain's royal palaces are crumbling because of cuts in the money allocated to repair them and need urgent work that will cost £32m. The royal household staff have tried to cut costs by adopting thrifty methods familiar to more humble households: switching off lights, saving hot water and keeping a close eye on the electricity and gas meters... Chelsy Davy lands work experience at Legal Firm

Prince Harry's squeeze Chelsy Davy is temporarily abandoning fashionable nightclubs and is taking a further step towards amalgamation with the Royal Family. The 23-year-old law student has just started a two-week stint of work experience with the Queen's solicitors Farrer and Co. In the run-up to Christmas, she will be based at the prestigious and long-established legal firm's offices in Lincoln's Inn Fields. On a vacation placement, Chelsy would be paid £250 a week - hardly enough to fund a repeat of her antics last Saturday at Kensington nightclub Amika [1], where she and her pals reportedly spent £500 on rum cocktails. I'm told it is highly unlikely that fun-loving Chelsy would have got her placement without pulling strings of some kind. A legal source tells me: 'These City law firms only ever interview Oxbridge graduates and, normally speaking, someone from Leeds would not get a look-in. This isn't because the firms look down on other universities - it is simply because they consider that Oxbridge fulfils all their needs, so why bother to broaden the net?' Meanwhile, I am told the senior solicitors at Farrer's [2] have been greatly looking forward to their glamorous new addition. 'We're taking bets on who will be the first person to ask her to get the teas in,' says one. Gap-year for Princess Eugenie: Beach hut and a hippy night out [1] - Daily Mail To the casual observer she was like any other backpacker, sunning herself in the Indian hippy resort of Goa. But Princess Eugenie had two accessories not usually found in a budget travel guide – a pair of burly Scotland Yard protection officers. The 18-year-old Royal – sixth in line to the throne – was staying in a £13-a-night beach shack featured in backpackers’ bible the Lonely Planet as part of her gap year... Pippa Middleton joins the party [2] - The Guardian Knowing how you adore a new, slightly recherche celebrity, it seems the right time to open your cage door and usher in Pippa Middleton. Last month, Pippa was voted No 1 in Tatler's list of the "200 coolest kids in town", which is a bit like heading Jade Goody's list of the top 200 public intellectuals... Princess Beatrice’s St. James Reason [3] - Fashion.ie While the opulent St James’ Palace was always going to be more appealing than student digs, Princess Beatrice says she had a benevolent reason for turning down Goldsmiths College’s halls of residence. “I gave up my place in halls because I live only half an hour from campus.” She continued: “I thought the room would be better use to someone who had further to travel.”... The Duchess doesn't do the credit crunch [4] - Daily Mail I went to meet the Duchess of York at Harrods yesterday for the launch of her new children's book, Tea for Ruby. I've met Sarah a few times and found her delightful when interviewing her in Dubai last month. I don't know whether she deliberately means to be pure comedy but she always manages to bring a smile to my face... Kate’s Mum voices concerns over Public Scrutiny

Since Kate Middleton was first courted by Prince William more than five years ago, her mother, Carole, has been the model of discretion. The glamorous businesswoman has, however, now broken her silence to voice her concerns about the impact that public scrutiny is having on her life. "You see, I feel very vulnerable about everything," she told Mandrake last weekend at the Hennessy Gold Cup, at Newbury racecourse, just a few miles from her house in Berkshire. "I'm not a celebrity and don't want to be one. Celebrities have minders and PR people. I don't want a PR person and wouldn't want to have to pay to employ one. I haven't asked for all this." Carole, 53, who was an air stewardess when flying was still chic, owns Party Pieces, a successful mail-order company providing children's party paraphernalia, with her husband, Michael. "I'm concerned about my business; that's my focus," she said. "I don't want the attention to detract from that. I'm also worried for my family: I have three children – not just Catherine." Princes William and Harry join posh Gentlemen’s Club

Princes William and Harry have joined a posh London gentlemen’s club. They accepted honorary memberships of the £1,000-a-year private Turf Club — a world away from the trendy nightspots [1] they have partied at such as Boujis and Mahiki. The old-fashioned Turf Club dates back more than 200 years and is a stone’s throw from the boys’ London home in St James’s Palace. Secretary Lt Col Oliver Breakwell is convinced the boys will enjoy the change of pace from their previous haunts. He said: “We’re very dyed-in-the-wool. Our members come to enjoy a decent glass of wine and a good lunch or dinner.” (via The Sun) [2] [1] http://www.britishroyalwedding.com/2007/03/21/special-partying-with-the-princes/ [2] http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fgift-central%3Fie%3DUTF8%26%252AVersion%252A%3D1%26%252Aentries%252A%3D0&tag=britroyawedd-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Prince Harry’s Helicopter Blues

Prince Harry is heading for a crash landing over his ambition to fly a helicopter gunship. Results for his first week of aptitude training with the Army Air Corps have got instructors worried. Harry began a month- long series of trials to become a combat chopper pilot 13 days ago. He has so far won a medium grading for his flying skills at the controls of a Slingsby Firefly [1] trainer plane. But he’s struggled to grasp the classroom theory that he’ll have to master to earn a place on the next stage. One source at the base said: “He’s a good flier. Very confident, very calm. Great natural manual skills and co-ordination and a good sense of what’s around him in the air. But the theory is a real stretch for him.” Harry, 24, has another fortnight to correct his ways or face failing training at the first cut. More than 50% of applicants fail the first hurdle at the Middle Wallop base [2] in Hants. He is desperate to make the grade as he feels it is the only way he will see active service again. Harry struggled with academic life at school and Sandhurst Military Academy. He scraped through with two of the lowest A-level grades Eton has seen and often had to pester aides for help at Sandhurst. A source added: “Harry isn’t a natural academic.” (via Daily Star) [1] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHMadO18k5A [2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Air_Corps_Middle_Wallop

Princess Eugenie narrowly escapes Mumbai massacre

Princess Eugenie narrowly escaped the Mumbai massacre, The Sun can reveal. The Queen’s 18-year-old granddaughter left the terror-hit city four days before the attacks [1]. It is thought she visited the Oberoi Hotel and the Leopold cafe where the massacre began. She was on the first leg of her Indian backpacking trip. Eugenie was accompanied by armed protection cops. But last night a senior source admitted they would have been “little defence during the massacre. It has sent shockwaves through the palace. It doesn’t bear thinking about.” Eugenie and five pals were en route to Delhi when the attack occurred.
